Hardwire Generator Junction Box
60A to 125A Raintite
For generators with rated output current above 50 amps power inlet boxes are not available. This is because 60 amp and larger NEMA flanged male inlets do not exist. This hardwire junction box is one alternative. If you need to be able to unplug the generator cord then click here for another (high capacity modular inlet) alternative.
Gen/Tran Raintight NEMA 3R box can be mounted on exterior of building and wiring may be run through wall to transfer switch or panel. Features aluminum construction which can be painted in field. Multiple size knockouts in bottom of box for cable connections to generator and switch, Power terminal block factory mounted inside with 8 termination points for all conductors. 125 amp maximum. Dual size knockouts in bottom, sides and back as follows: bottom has (2)A-size and (2)B-size; left and right sides have (1)A-size; back has (1)A-size. A-size is accommodates 1/2" and 3/4" conduit. B-size accommodates 1" and 1-1/4" conduit.
WARNING: Never install this inlet box without connecting it to a transfer switch. If this product is not used with a transfer switch, it is not allowed by the National Electrical Code to supply power from a portable generator to a premises wiring system because of safety concerns. These concerns include the dangers of back feeding into the utility grid and possible damage when utility power is restored. Click here for more about safety.
Additional Installation Note: Be sure the blocks and insulating barriers are firmly attached to the mounting rail inside this box.
