400W Wind Generator
(industrial version)

In 1986 Southwest Windpower set out to develop a low cost reliable wind turbine to meet the needs of small independent power systems and work well in conjunction with solar electric modules for battery charging.  Today, tens of thousands of their turbines are operating around the world, powering remote homes, water pumping, telecommunications stations and sail boats.

The AIR series is a revolutionary new concept in wind turbine technology.  The extra-strength blades and advanced airfoil achieve higher output and reduced noise.   Other features include: only two moving parts, maintenance free design, variable pitch airfoil, aluminum alloy aircraft-grade castings with integral heat sink, brushless permanent magnet alternator and improved regulator.  Its high power output and maintenance-free reliability make it ideal for use in remote locations.  It has a built-in "smart" regulator that can handle peaks of over 750 watts and tapers the charge to trickle and rotor to a silent spin when the batteries are full.  AIR's small size and light weight make it easy to mount on pole towers, eliminating the need for sophisticated towers.  The AIR403-INDUSTRIAL is suitable for winds up to 130 mph.  UL Listed and CE Certified.  Made in USA.

This AIR-INDUSTRIAL is a heavy duty version of the AIR-MARINE.   It has been redesigned for use on oil rigs, mountain tops or any other high-wind location.  It has specially formulated blade material that can stand up to sub-zero temperatures and its blades are spaced further from the tower so that it can operate at sustained winds up to 130 mph.  It now comes with separate external C-40 charge controller and load dump resistor bank.

DC cable length and voltage drop must be evaluated carefully when laying out system.  Click here for our simple voltage drop calculator.
