Whisper Wind-Electric Water Pumping
(even better than the old windmill pumpers)

New Technology
Finally provides a more powerful source of water pumping than the traditional mechanical windmill.  Southwest Windpower's Whisper wind turbine has revolutionized wind powered water pumping systems with its Wind-Electric Water Pumper.  Just imagine, four times the water in the same wind, without any of the maintenance worries often associated with mechanical windmills.  No packing seals to change or bearings to grease.  All that is required is an annual inspection!

How It Works
Incredible flexibility and performance; put the wind generator where the wind is and the pump where the water is, even if they are miles apart!  The wind electric water pumper can deliver water at a fraction of the cost of windmills, solar PV or gas/diesel engines.  The Wind-Electric Water-Pumper uses any conventional off-the-shelf 3/4 hp three-phase 230 VAC centrifugal submersible or surface pump.   Installation can be as simple as installing the Whisper wind turbine on an existing windmill tower and connecting its three-phase AC wires directly to the pump through the controller.

Performance
Configuring a system is simple.  Compare your needs with each of the pump options.  Determine your wind speed from a local weather bureau or the wind atlas.   (See our Wind Power Information page.)  Then use the gallons per day plot above to determine flow.

Wind-Electric Water Pumping Kit
Kit includes Southwest Windpower's Whisper H80 1000 watt high voltage wind turbine and 3-phase high voltage pump controller.  You will also need a tower (kits available in 24', 30', 50', 65' and 80' heights), 3/4 hp three phase 230VAC pump motor, standard pump end, electrical wire, water tubing.  Entire system can be installed in a day without requiring special tools or equipment.

Turbine Construction
Whisper wind generators are made by World Power Technology.   These are designed for gusty wind areas and marine environments.  Main frame rotor shaft and boom are stainless steel.  Tilt-up governor does not rely on springs and needs no adjustment.  Rotor is made of high strength light weight injection-molded material that is fiber reinforced.   Bearings are sealed and permanently lubricated.   Turbine is a cast aluminum design that incorporates a unique Patented side furling "angle governor" for over-speed protection.  Output of the turbine is three-phase AC power.  Made in USA.
